Hello,
My Name is Mckenzie.
I have a brother Johnny, who has a 18 years old son, named Justin, who has been recently diagnosed with Schizophrenia.
Before being actually diagnosed, I researched both Schizophrenia, and Bipolar, due to the fact that I didn't know the diference between the two and tried to help my brother to find answers to his young trouble son's mental state.
Since then he has been diagnosed with Schizophrenia.
He has major episodes of destruction.
He has made holes in the walls everywhere in his parents house.
He writes all kinds of jargon on the walls, can't understand what he's talking about most of the time, and is very violent.
So far three times the police have been called by neighbours and family members whenever he acted up.
The policeman are aware of this problem with my nephew, and usually have no problems getting him to go with them and brought to the hospital.
Unfortunately the hospital keeps him for a week or so, then release him.
The last episode, he was angry because his parents left without him, and he spent the whole day planning his revenge.
He dug out a grave for them upon their return.
He had 2 knives and treaten them, that he would kill them and chop them up and put them in the grave he had spent all day digging.
My bother and his wife managed to escape and they called my father who lives in the same town, in order for him to call 911.
This time the policemen had a lot of trouble with him.
He foughtwith them, it finally took 6 cops to finally get him in the police car and brought him once again to the hospital.
Again after 10 days, they have now shipped him back home.
How can parents get the proper people to deal with a situation like this, are they waiting for him to kill someone before they get him into a facility where he can't hurt himself or others.
I really don't get it.
Look at all the young kids that were killed at the Tech University, and the boy was a problem child, and everyone knew, but they still didn't do nothing until 32 + died.
What are we supose to do with Justin.
We love him dearly, we never in a million years would have thought this young shy boy would turn out to be soo dangerous to himself and his family.
As for treatment, I am not sure what kind they are, the only thing I do know is that they will give him an injection every 2 weeks.
He own't take his pills, and it's pretty hard to argue with a 6ft tall 18 year old young man.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Wow! I don't know what the laws are in Canada, but in the states I think they can step in if the person is a danger to himself or others which it sounds like Justin is. I think you are going to have to really research the laws in Canada and press the issue. Our laws differ by state. In California it is really hard to commit someone. In Washington state your brother would have been permanently committed. I know because my mom's brother was permanently committed just for walking around with an ax. He didn't do anything, his neighbors were just frightened. Talk to the doctors. See what they say. Your nephew is a timebomb waiting to explode. I would be very fearful. Is there a mental health organization you can contact? Social workers? This is really scary and I wouldn't wait until something happens.
Well that's it, my brother told the police officers that he couldn't come back to his house, and when my brother spoke with the doctors that took care of my nephew, they say they can't keep him after he's been medicated and is under control.
I will research and contact themental health organization, because at this point, both my brother and his wife, takes turn at night, at who sleeps and who watches him.
