Schizophrenia Support Group
Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by impairments in the perception of reality and by significant social dysfunction. Untreated schizophrenia is typically characterized by demonstrating disorganized thinking and experiencing delusions or auditory hallucinations.

Sometimes I'm completely nocturnal, but will sleep for 12 hours or more during the day. At other times, I sleep only four hours a night (horrible insomnia). Sometimes I stay up for long stretches at a time.
I think sleep disturbances are a part of schizophrenia spectrum symptoms, but not sure.
Do you have horrible dreams? Or hallucinations while drifting into sleep or while in the process of waking up?

I have those too (the hallucinations on waking or falling asleep), usually when I'm really stressed.
The only things that help me with sleep are keeping stress to a minimum (which is really difficult when you're struggling with schizotypy or schizophrenia, because everything is stressful, in my opinion :).
I have a weighted blanket that helps a lot if I use it before bedtime. Melatonin is surprisingly good, too. I've tried sleep medications, but they just make me spacy and uncoordinated, but not drowsy. Some have success with them, though. Maybe it depends on finding the right one.
I wish I had hallucinations about Sherlock, or something along those lines. Then I wouldn't have to re watch the episodes so often. :D
