I smell wierd things all the time. Sometimes something that I know should smell a certain way will smell like something completely wrong. This can be disturbing...especially when somebody else smells it and they disagree.

Sorry, I have been up for a long time studying law. I am a little tired and my wording is off.

I have smelled very foul smells. Like dead bodies and rotting flesh... I've even smelt cigars and old perfume that my Grandma used to wear.I totally understand your experience. It happens to me a lot. Maybe a few times I week. I'm more of a visual/Audio hallucinator.

I always smell burning smells and these foul smells in the house and other places its hard to explain sometimes what I'm smelling when no one else does.

My mom spells gasoline a lot or something burning too. They doctors don't think she has a mental disorder though and keep telling her that she has seizures. SHe hasn't gont to a pdoc only a general practioner. I think she has a screw loose or two...

I had olfactory hallucinations for a few years but they have stopped within the last couple of years. I used to smell dead rotting things. Sometimes I would smell oranges.

Sometimes, usually it is dirty diapers when there aren't any & no one is around.. Sometimes things burning.

something burning and things like burning rubber quite a bit. Is this part of hallucinations? I did not know that. I should read up on my illnesses some day ha? I think I am afraid to like it would concrete in my head it is all just an illness. Which as you can see by my posts I sometimes prefer not to believe. I dont know just a thought I guess

Sometimes I smell things that my husband or family doesn't smell. I think I am remembering someone from the past. Or sometimes Ill smell stuff and get up in the middle of the night - like the smell of a cigarette. Then the smell will be gone.

When Im not feeling well people's perfumes and colognes really bother me.

there are times when i smell burning hair or something rotten. i notice this especially when i skip taking my medication.

Sometimes I smell things that other people may not smell, but I dont discredit it. Sometimes my sences may be a little bit stronger than theirs is. If you smell something burning, its always a good idea just to check and make sure there really isnt a fire. That would be terrible to discredit what you are smelling as a hullucination, and then have your house burn down as a result or something. We had our house catch on fire when I was 9, and it was not a very great experience. Its always best to double check. You dont have to tell anyone else what you smell, just look around the house inconspicuously.

yes it is a good thing to check if there really is a fire because our house caught fire when i was little as well. so i do check to make sure before i blame my mind.

hi acoustiyears...this is a good post. i always wake up smelling a burning fire and get up and search for fires in my house and then go back to bed. i'm going to ask my pdoc what this is all about. i forget to ask him everytime i go to his office. for those who know..is this a hallucination?
