Woa Max, slow down, 10 emails in 3 days? You're gonna scare this lady away. The 10 emails reflect your loneliness and your obvious emotional connection with her. I hope she can understand this. If she doesn't, explain to her that you are grateful for her friendship.

Try to spend your time doing other things and not focus so much on her...don't become obsessed I'm trying to say. Get out of your apartment and talk to other people!

I think, for a man, your interest in the level of intimacy at this point is natural. You have physical needs and you feel a connection. It must be added difficulty because she is geographically close to you as well!

Keep taking showers is my best advice for the physical needs.

I hope some men pipe in here real soon because I'm looking at it from a woman's perspective.

Hi, no a woman's point of view is just right.....she's returned from her weekend (which I think was a singles place) and said nothing much in her email except that she had read all mine. I do think I am all out of proportion about this...and will try to be more social outside this too limited relationship..thanks.

HIya, and thanks, SwordDancer, I've canceled all my plans with this particular woman as it is clear her interests are elsewhere and certainly not with me, except as the most lowest level of 'just a friend" which I don't want or need. I am relieved already.....maybe I can find more sympatico companions, maybe Emotions Anonymous once a week, though it's in Times Square, my most undesirable places to be, but it may well be worth it......thanks again..Amen!!!!!!

What's wrong with being "just friends"?

When I sit across the table from someone and find them intensely interesting and attractive, "just" friends is a real come down.Also, No friend is "just a friend", they are essential...but my interests lay a little differently. It may be that I will accept that designation and level, as I have no friends in my "neighborhood" (who know of my mental illness) and could use one dearly.....she let me know, after I canceled my plans with her, that she would be at a lttle local concert Thursday, if I was planning on going....so maybe there might be something there anyway...thanks for your question. It made me think.

All relationships (should) start with being friends first. Wouldn't it be wonderful to be in a relationship with your best friend?! I've seen that in action and it's an awesome thing! Just take it slow, see where it goes.

just friends is always the best way to build a real lasting relationship ...

sounds like your needing just friends ...so you have someone who you can talk with and get to know ... being isolated to a great degree ...as we all are with this illness ... takes a little more time when it comes to putting unneeded pressure on another persons own needs and wants ...

just friends for me would be a grand slam ...and a really safe place to examine another's world ...so as to become familiar with what we so very well keep hidden 24/7

And it rhymes too !! Well, I don't know where the relationship stands now...I've only seen her in person once in the last week and she is very busy...so far it's been me mostly emailing her. I think she likes it but I kind put some moves on her and now I don't know what she is thinking....I'm moving on to other things. I signed up for another fiction workshop which I'm really excited about and am a candidate for a part time tutoring job in NYC middle schools.....if they don't knock me out for my mental health history or some other reason, I will have to interview with the principal of a school...it would be great, getting out, helping young people, making a little extra money....I'm waiting to hear about the interview, if it's really going to happen...yaye!
