Schizophrenia Support Group
Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by impairments in the perception of reality and by significant social dysfunction. Untreated schizophrenia is typically characterized by demonstrating disorganized thinking and experiencing delusions or auditory hallucinations.
Hi, I'm 21 years old and I'm a single child. My mom is a paranoid schizophrenic, was diagnosed when I was 3 years old. I have felt sad, bad and upset throughout my childhood because we always had problems with everyone (neighbors, relatives, friends) and the usuals you would expect in such a household.
The sad thing is I never had anyone to share stuff with, no siblings and I couldn't talk about this to any of my friends.
Now all of a sudden, I'm experiencing a lot of emotions, like hatred, anger, need to blame, need for compensation etc.
I really want some form of support this time, people to talk to or to just know that I'm not alone.

Lately I've been feeling scared and full of anxiety. I recently found a lump under my nipple. I hurt my back too. I'm in the process of moving. I'm run down. Everything is hard

Just wanted to give a thank you to Mid, Arfie, Malibumark, Greeneyes, Mlro, Girlincalif, and Suncloudjd! You all always have such helpful tips and advice, but I always forget to write on my posts when I see you post, lol. I would lose my head if it wasn't attached to my body, lol. Thank you all so much! I'm starting to use my AI app as a sounding board again. I used to use it as that before...

I am glad you are reaching out. Living with mentally ill family members is, indeed, a serious challenge that can lead to all the emotions you mentioned, and then some. Being able to talk about it is an essential part of managing in my book.
DS is a big site. I hope you will take the time to surf around. There is much healing companionship to be found here. The challenges of being raised with mental illness are hot topic in the PTSD forum.
Welcome aboard. You are definitely not alone.
