Schizophrenia Support Group
Schizophrenia is a psychiatric diagnosis that describes a mental disorder characterized by impairments in the perception of reality and by significant social dysfunction. Untreated schizophrenia is typically characterized by demonstrating disorganized thinking and experiencing delusions or auditory hallucinations.
It's been at least three years since I've been working at the group home. It's really challenging because the work is all physical. I scrub out the showers,mop all the floors, take out the trash, and replace all the paper towels and toilet paper By the time I am done, my shirt is drenched in sweat.. I don't know if I should find a different job because I'm really mad when I'm working. I keep thinking about the rotten things that my family do and say to me. But when I'm done, I feel so much better, like I'm floating on a cloud. My father even told me to quit because the government takes out of my disability check. I know in my gut that working is the best thing to continue to do. I have a lot in common with the residents at the group home because it's for mentally ill people struggling to get back on their feet. Although sometimes these people are violent, I feel a great connection with them. Like I mentioned before, the pay off is worth it . What do y'all think?? Should I look for another job??
Sounds to me like you are doing great at your job ...something they like to do is change your direction in life a lot ..so if you are not working they will say "get a job" and if you are working and getting a reputation as a good worker maybe making a friend or acquaintances along the way..then they say "stop working it removes an amount from your disability check" its your independence he may be afraid of....probably so used to you being dependent that he is afraid to see you strengthen...i am surrounded by them ..they are everywhere !
