Panic Attacks

Been having acute panic attacks and juxt recently went to the ER. They told me to use extra Vistaril if I feel one coming on. I think Vistaril isn't good enough.. You need something like Ativan. On the other hand I've also been managing these attacks as they come on and I haven't had one in over a week. Any advice?

I tried Ativan and it wasn't enough for me. So, my psych put me on fluphenazine. It works for me. I haven't had a panic attack in a while now.

I take klonopin 2mg three times a day. It keeps my anxiety low steadily throughout the day so it doesn't reach panic level. It is not good to take for a panic attack though, you need something quicker acting like Ativan. Like mjones Ativan did not work for me when I was having panic attacks though. It might work for you though. Ask your pdoc to try it and if it doesn't work there are other drugs than can.

I'm on Ativan & Xanax for my panic attacks! It seems to help me.. =) Best of luck to you.

Klonopin works for me. Doesnt give me a high, it just clears my mind and helps me work. celexa 4omg works well as an antideppresant and anxiety.

On another note BrainCandy...i was wondering what you told your pdoc to get him to prescribe you klonopin. My doc wont..so seeking someone who will...any advice...? Thanks.

My pdoc from a while back put me on a low dose of klonopin. Each successive pdoc increased it becaused I begged them to because my anxiety was so bad. I had a pdoc who didn't see anything wrong with prescribing it and so he did the final increase 2mg/3times a day. Because it helped so much it has just remained the same. I didn't have a history of any drug abuse which is one reason it is not prescribed. I think it is a matter of finding the right pdoc and having a good relationship with her or him so you feel free to ask for it and not get shot down..
