Schizoaffective Disorder Community Group
A place to share experiences, support others and be supported.
I just joined this group today. I noticed the last post in this group was January 2019. There are sixty seven members. I hope that some of you will post in the near future because I really need your support.
I had my onset when I was fourteen years old. I am not new to Dailystrength. Originally, the behavioral health professionals slapped me with a schizophrenia diagnosis. A few years later they said I was Bipolar. I came out to my friends in my personal day to day life and also to my friends on social media. It was a great release to know that they knew and still did not defriend me out of fear. I was talking to pdoc (psychiatrist)and mentioned that I thought that people on the radio were talking about me way back when.
So now I define myself, in part, under the umbrella schizoaffective disorder. I thought it would be ok to come out with this diagnosis too but, schizophrenia is the big heavy word that causes uneducated people to run in fear. I'm sick and tired of trying to gain acceptance in spite of this label. I hope this finds you in a positive mood or on your way to one.
Thank you for your time.
