Rocky Mountain spotted fever is the most severe and most frequently reported rickettsial illness in the United States, and has been diagnosed throughout the Americas. The disease is caused by Rickettsia rickettsii, a species of bacteria that is spread to humans by hard ticks.

I had RMSF around 15 years ago and my body hasn't been the same since. I have joint pain and stiffness so bad that it is hard to walk at times. I'm constantly tired no matter how much I sleep. Vision problems and headaches. But my Dr. tells me that RMSF doesn't have long term effects that it clears up after taking antibiotic when diagnosed. Some days I just want to throw in the towel!

Just starting down this road. Was diagnosed last week and on doxycycline. No idea when I was bitten. Joints hurt and really tired all the time. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I am going to try to take my daughter to Dr. Ken Mitchell in Phoenix, AZ. I think he and his colleague Dr. Jen Smith would take your symptoms seriously and they would believe that this disease can reoccur. Life stream wellness is his office.

I was diagnosed with RMSF April of 2017. Three rounds of Doxy, felt better here and there but absolutely not the same. The lethargy is definitely the worst! When I get what I call a "flare up" my temperature will spike every night at 7:00, headaches worsen, joint and muscle pain.... I am shocked at the infectious doctors who won't deal with it. As much as I hate it, I'm grateful for the temp spike bc I feel thats the only "visible" proof, even for my own sanity. I'm interested to look into Dr. Mitchell.

I was just diagnosed with RMSF last week. Day 6 of Doxcycline My head feels like its going to explode. And can’t get out of bed. Going to infectious disease doctor on Thursday. I am on Doxy for 3 weeks along with probiotics. How long were you on antibiotics

You may need another Dr. , find a LLMD that studies this disease, only 80% get cured
