Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
first off, NO they gave me no literature on remicade, I have found out most of it from peoples exepriences and I looked it up on wed md and drugs.com
second, It has so many side effects and when I ask my dr he says No done of them are, yet I hear from people who have had these experisnces.
I am glad you have not had any problems, with your treatments, but that does not mean that i am sitting here trying to make mine up.
I had been on ebnrel for over 10 years nad did just great with NO side effects whatsoever.
The enbrel quit working and the disease is progressing according ot my mri of my feet. I have gone from somoene who teachers exercise classes to soemone who can barely walk long enough to finish my shopping.
I think getting information from people who have taken the drugs is alot more helpful than reading somethign ont eh internet. and like I said my dr gave me nothing, told me nothing about side effects and I have read online today that yeast infectinos and uri are very common with this drug as well as sore throat nd bad muslce and joint pain.
I am not on Remicade, but do take Enbrel. I had a severe yeast infection after a few months Enbrel (hadn't had one in YEARS since I had been on strong antibiotics for recurrent sinus infections). I don't know if it's related, but in theory if you're on something that is suppressing your immune system it can lead to infection of any type, including yeast infections. I'd consult the Remicade website, or ask your doctor.

i've had RA almost 17 yrs. did the enbrel, humira, rituxan., and now having fantastic results with Remicade, after 3 icnreases, started in March this year
SO i started Enbrel, was a miracle in 2000. 5 years on triple DMARDs, and prednisone, and NSAIDS...I got IC, you mentioned this before, from Remicade, and the UTI, and the worst kind of kidney stone, a staghorn, and kidney infections...5 yhears before biologics came out.
The urologist saved my kidney. they removed 1/5 of it...and i had to go to a gynie, excessive female mesntruation...she did ultrasound, nothing wrong, and put me on hormones, prempro...that stopped the periods
I still see a urologist, had some other kidney stone episodes in 199, stuck in ureter, and another kidney infection, and that one i will never forget..chills, vomiting, etc
i do a 24 hour urine test 2-to 3 times a year, and watch my oxalates, from my diet, and take Urocit-k pottasium citrate, my citrates still low, so still at risk for more stones
but i havent had one, am seeing that urologist faithfully
I might get a urinary tract infection once every few years...but havent yet with remicade, and i am on 700mg, every 6 weeks
just call the 1800#, remicade will be glad to send u info on it.. rheummy gave me a cd, and a pack of info on emicade, but remicade ppl will be glad to send u info
thats good u are taking yogurt, probiotic every day, how about an acidopholus supplement also, and important to drink lots of water
make sure u talk this over with ur gynie and urologist
take care
I'm sorry you've had some rude responses to your questions. We are supposed to be a site that encourages others and directs not call others names or insinuate they are something other than worried or concerned about their problems. Sometimes you just have to ignore some posts, as you would if you were at a party, or get together and someone was unpleasent to be around! Anyway...Think you should call your Doc and keep searching. I take Remicade and have had 2 infusions. I find that what helps me is to stay away from any information about the side effects and that way I don't set myself up to be more sensitive to what is happening in my body. So far it's been OK. Just lots of fatigue for about 4 days. Good luck!
I just punched in yeast infections from Remicade..and got this, plus this thread can be googled. So, it's possible
Personally, i got thrush from prednisone, lots of side affects on that one, but hey, we need it sometime.
Is Remicade helping your joints yet?..or too early to tell?
I was in agony 3 weeks after my dose, couldn't even use my right hand, and swollen knees, yes, even in a tkr. So, when she upped my remicade, it really helped, and i got off the 2 weeks prednisone.
This is something you have to discuss with your theummy, gynie, PCP, or urologist. Everyone is differant...we aren't trained medically, but you can get other peoples experiences with it...but it's still your doctors and your decision
