Does anyone get really bad wrist pain? My wrists normally ache, but for the past 2 days it was beyond that. It was like a toothache - a nagging, deep, pain that actually hurt so bad it made me feel sick to my stomach. Typing on my iPad or phone was impossible, so I started to wonder if I injured it from too much typing. But I've used my iPad and phone for years with no issue! And the kicker is, the pain is suddenly gone! Just like that, it feels better. I actually had to stop and think, "did I take ibuprofin?" But I know I didn't. Is that normal for RA pain? Does it come and go with no explanation?

I've also had a sore tongue and mouth for 2 days, and that too is suddenly gone tonight. Is that an RA symptom? I feel like I'm losing my mind!

Yes it does, At least with me it does.
I can be sleeping and wake up in the middle of the night in terrible pain( worst is when its my shoulders) I will pace back and forth for a couple hrs. tell I fall asleep. Then in the morning the pain is gone and only have a little stiffness.

i sleep in resting splints when I'm like that - and if it keeps up i have lightweight and heavy splints for the daytime depending on how much what I can/want to restrict. i also have these really cool wrist wraps from amazon with ice packs and/or heat gel (microwave) that i insert into the wrist wraps. if the day is over, I do better if the wrists are elevated. and my body tolerates nsaids.

are you on mtx, i forget? that can and does cause me to have mouth sores. i up my folic acid, i use leucovorin prescription and i use a mtx mouthwash that my rheumie calls into the pharmacy.

I may need to invest in some splints and those wrist wraps from Amazon. Yesterday I had my wrist wrapped in my huge rice pack -- it was the best I could do! :) I am not on MTX, just started plaquenil. I have celiac also, and my GI doc is testing me next week for SIBO -- I"m thinking it might be from that. It causes me to have so many food sensitivities and ate a bunch of strawberries 2 days ago.

Consider seeing an orthopedic surgeon for Kenalog injection and/or to rule out need for de Quervaine's Release.

SAAMOM - what eviction(s) are you on. Wrist pain is very common with RA but should be litigated by a biologic. When I experience breakthrough pain because i'm on the computer too much )my addiction) find AsperCream helps, if that doesn't work well enough I use a wrist splint that you can buy OTC.

Sore mouth could be any number things. Start with your dentist.

For me plaquenil and strawberries don't go together well... I get the sore mouth for a few days after eating strawberry...

Aches and pains for me come and go all the time.... I can go to bed with shoulder pain, middle of the night wake up with knee pain but by morning wake up with neck pain. Yes RA can sure make you think you are losing your mind some days.

Thank you for your replies. It is nice to know that when I feel overwhelmed I can come here for support. WarriorGal, forgive my ignorance, what is an eviction? The medicine? I am on plaquenil - just started 2 weeks ago as I was just diagnosed then.

For me, feeling like I'm losing my mind has been the one constant in this journey!!!

I have the same things with the wrist pain and other areas. It can be horrible one day and better the next...I can wake up in the night with one pain- then get up and it's just sore.

I've not had the strawberry reaction with Plaquenil, but I've had a few instances where I've thrown up for no apparent reason. I think it's hard on your stomach sometimes.

Also, for me the right wrist is always swollen~ as are the fingers/thumb. It never seems to go away. Left is too somewhat but nothing like the right. Best of days to you~ S

I too have wrist pain and thought it was from my phone/iPad. Now I know all along it was RA. Mine does not disappear that quickly. I got mouth sores from MTX, but it doesn't sound like what you had.
