15 mgs is a small dose in my opinion. I understand that they keep the dose low if it's for more than a week, but with a Pred. taper my Dr. starts at 30 mgs, and even this isn't enough anymore to give me full result (tho it sure helps!). When I had asthma attacks, they would give me 60 mgs for 10 days, so 15 is not a high dose. I know you should not stay on a high dose for very long, but maybe your Dr. would let you do a short tapered "burst", like 30 - 25 - 20 - then back to 15. That might help, at least for a while.

So you've not had bloodwork yet for Rheumatoid factor, anti-ccp, inflammation, etc?

It's possible you don't have an autoimmune disease...it's also possible it's not enough prednisone. I can't speak to that as 2.5mg helped me so much! But lots of people need a high dose.

I'm sure when your test results are read the rheumy will have a more conclusive answer. So sorry steroids aren't cutting it for you. I have always done the "bursts" starting with 24mg daily over a two week period then tapering down for about a 2 week period. Keep working with your rheumy and hopefully you will have relief soon. Regular prednisone did nothing for me at all so my Rhuemy put me on prednisolone. After one day it was like a miracle drug. You might want to ask your doc about it. Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I would see if your doctor can increase the dosage. I had immediate relief from the dose pack on about the second day, and my doctor said that was a clear indication to her that I had severe inflammation going on.

I'm in a flare and had the steroid shot and then a 6 day regimen of Methylprednisolone. Nothing has helped. I am waiting to hear if the insurance will ok Orencia infusion. Remecade was helping but the last infusion was a higher dose and it absolutely did nothing to help me feel better. Hope something works for you soon.
