...should be drug out in the street and shot like a dog.

When I'm sitting up (reading, watching TV, working my computer) I fall asleep constantly. But if I try to lie down for a nap? Sleepiness is immediately gone, driven away by zaps of pain. So I sit up again and go back to sleep.

I hear ya! I have even fallen asleep recently while taking a bath sitting up (not reclining). Then I think I'm going to get a nap or go to bed early but then I'm wide awake with everything hurting. My daughter says "Mom, please go to bed...you need rest" but it's easier sometimes just staying up. Vicious cycle.... You're not alone. I wish you a relaxing night tonight.

Yup. A few days ago I fell asleep with an almost full cup of tea in my hands. Ended up wearing it.

In the past week I have almost fallen off my computer chair and the dining room chair while watching t.v. I have been exhausted this past week.

Same here - can't do much more than sit in my chair and read anymore - a couple pages in and I am fast asleep. But at night I am up every 2 hours like clock work for an hour or so each time.

In the nice weather sitting on the porch I fall asleep in the chair all the time and don't remember doing it.

Almost regularly my wife has to wake me up at lunch and supper time.

This is the main reason I had to stop working - had visions of 1 million pieces of mail strewn all around the ditch alongside the road......

i open up my window. the -7 will wake me up today. :)

when first diagnosed this felt like pregnancy fatigue or when I took methotrexate for tubal pregnancies. i had small children so I kept trudging on, through the quicksand to work, no option

they should make ra suits with pounds of cement in them especially in the joint areas and a non ra-er wanting "to get an idea" could wear them.

now it feels normal.

if you are retired or on disability you can self heal, in other words keel over and r e s t

my heart goes out to those still on the clock using caffeine, motrin and pred - for those folks on here, you get the RA OSCAR

Ditto! I get so tired at work everyday. Night time rolls around and I'm wide awake in bed. What's up with that? I think it's cuz I want what I can't have- a nap at work!

I've termed it a ridiculous disease for the purposes of proper conversation...have stronger feelings about it. I've fallen asleep like you, then try sleeping-ugh. The best I've figured out so far that works for me when I wake up at night is to have a snack nearby and sometimes take pain relief, a snack helps. Then earbuds with the phone to play a familiar movie, or comedy so I can "disconnect". This usually works. I'm in the working category for now and can get desperate to get back to sleep.
