Rheumatoid Arthritis Support Group
Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It is a disabling and painful condition which can lead to substantial loss of mobility due to pain and joint destruction. The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
Anyway, I hope some others can help you more than I can and I hope you are feeling better soon. What kind of cookies did you make?~Lori
prednisone under 10mg/day does nothing for my pain, and i refuse to take that much prednisone on a daily basis. i feel like i'm about to get the flu more often than not: headachy, body aches (lol), low grade fever on and off. i'm nervous about taking too much advil/tylenol because of all the other crap i'm pumping in my body - my poor kidneys and liver.
i have this excellent pop in my lower lower back, like seriously maybe just above my coccyx, that hurts when it pops but then nothing. it happens when i like turn or twist in the chair, or go to get up, or barely move at all... hmm. i make so many crackly noises. my 93 year old grandmother-in-law doesn't sound like this. drives me nuts.
i bet the enbrel kicks in for you and the humira for iretz in about 6 weeks.
the in state of flare bothers me most in the morning when my consciousness forces me to face the fact that I have to put enough splints and/or wraps and braces to look like i have been in a car wreck just to get out the door (today I have on ankle braces, wrist wraps and a neck brace) - there is WAY too much talking myself into it going on in the morning when i am still in flare.
you just finished finals, also, so you must be mentally exhausted.

today my toes are super annoying. it's like each day, something is more painful than something else. and it changes during the day as well. maybe it's just that i notice certain things more than others at certain times. can you imagine how hard it would be to pay attention to EVERY PAIN IN YOUR BODY right now?
hmm.
for me the first thing to know i am in a flare is fever, then pains in my fingers and toes. after noticing these pains (i dont wait for the pains in my knees/elbows/wrists to show up) i immediately raise my prednisone dose so that i dont feel any more pains and within 2-3 days i get back to normal.
as per my symptoms journal, i have been noticing that i get a flare every two months. and exactly on the same dates. it is a but surprising to me. but i dont know why i flare exactly ONCE IN EVERY TWO MONTHS.
just keep listening to your body. my knees hurt very badly too. sometimes they just get frozen all of a sudden and its very hard for me to take a step. it scares me. i use penetrex (amazon) and it helped me a lot. no joking. you will see the result. i use it every night. for me, its a god send gift. give it a try. hope it works for you.
good luck.
Beside the pain and immobility, that part is what has really turned my life upside down. After almost 3 years of this now, I have finally learned that I just can't plan anything like your baking routine for Christmas.
For example, when I was still working I had to work every holiday for the past 15 years. My wife of course understood, but her mother never did. My wife hadn't been able to spend a Christmas day with her parents all these years. Now that I haven't been able to work the past year or so, we are able to go there for holidays - sometimes........the problem now is that I don't know how I am going to feel on any certain day ahead of time. If I am having a bad day on Christmas day, there is no way I can drive the 100 miles each day.
This goes with just about everything in life. Like you, my wife takes up the slack around the homestead on these days. There is always stuff that needs to be done everyday around here and I can't stand it when I can't do it all!
Hugs for everyone!
Hurt from head to toe, feel sick & completely run down. My range of motion is limited much more then normal & the exhaustion is far worse. Swelling in more joints.
Could barely walk & could not get shoes on or turn my neck in mornings.
Joints hurt that normally are not bothersome.
I has no clue it could get this out of control.
Thus far my one doctor feels the Enbrel just stopped working.
So I'll call my Rheumy Monday due to the holiday.
This is a whopper, smaller flares are just down sized.
Wonderful timing, worst holiday thus far.
What is normal? I forget what it's like.
Good luck & take good care.
Blessings for the holidays.
