The disease is also systemic in that it often also affects many extra-articular tissues throughout the body including the skin, blood vessels, heart, lungs, and...
I am grateful that I am moving closer to a true diagnosis.
Most of all, I'm thankful that I am thankful. I know that happiness is my choice, no matter what life throws my way. I know that all my actions, reactions, and choices are dictated by how I choose to think and see things. In knowing this, I'm thankful that I've been able to be a positive influence on the people in my life.
I'm thankful that I've been given a chance to step out of the day-to-day life, no longer focusing all my attention on just trying to keep going. That I've been forced to get out of the 9 to 5 mentality so I can focus on something better, no longer living life for the weekends but for every moment.
I'm thankful that this illness has given me the chance to be something better, to do something better, to think outside of this box that I've allowed myself to be forced into through the years.
I'm thankful that my reduction in pain has allowed me to focus again. I can think without being bogged down. I can put my attention where it needs to be, rather then where I thought it should be.
I'm thankful that this illness came when it did, that it allowed me to stop and look at what was around me. My attention is now where it needs to be, on my family, helping them through a very difficult time.
I'll finish my ramble with being thankful that I know now, more than ever, that money is one of the least important things in my life. It's sole importance has been force fed to me and most people, and I can see beyond that much easier now. I know that as long as I have enough for a roof over my head, for food on my plate, to keep up with my health, and the internet to keep myself learning - that it is and always will be enough for me. I know that satisfaction through money is fleeting, and that thing that I want won't be so important once I have it.
I lied, one more thing that's high on the recent list: I'm thankful to the people that come here. That they have been a positive influence, helping me to understand. I'm thankful to know that if I need it, they are here to help.

I am thankful for my parents who allowed me to fall when I was young but was always there if I need their help to get up again. That lesson has served me well has I deal with RA.
