Take care, Anna
UTI's is something women can get anyway, RA or not. So I think it's probably just one of those things.
Cranberry juice, yep there is truth to that.
Also you can get the over the counter AZO tablets for UTI's they can help too.
It is possible that the meds you took just didn't clear things up entirely. Sometimes we can have it mild and we don't necessarily have obvious symptoms.
but take the usual obvious preventative measures, proper hygiene, do the front to back wiping technique. And go pee straight after sex, that is advised too.
I have at least a couple of UTI's a year. I had them before I was diagnosed, so I'm not sure they have anything to do with RA. But some of the info I've read online suggests that certain bacteria may be the root of RA. (connection?) hmmmmm.....
All I know is that after I finish a round of Cipro for a UTI, even my RA feels better for about a week. - Maybe it's all in my head, but since I'm the one walking around in this body, I'll take it!
Drinking cranberry juice is great (it needs to be pure cranberry juice, not the one with all the water and sugar according to my doc), but when I went in to see my doctor once for this infection and told her I drank a gallon of juice before I came in reminded me to do everything in moderation because an excessive amount of the cranberry juice can also be an irritant to the inside of the bladder.
