I just found this article on another site and thought some of you might find it interesting. Basically, a couple of researchers posit that high TNF levels, found in inflamed people like us, can eventually lead to immune suppression. Effect: increased risk of cancers, infections, etc.

Regulating TNF with etanercept, aka Enbrel, helped normalize the immune system. This could be a start towards understanding why RA patients have a higher risk of cancer- immune suppression- and cardiovascular disease- inflammation.

when I brought the black box warnings up with the rheumie on our biologics this was her response as above. RA patients are at higher risk for the same outcome, untreated

who funded the study ? I'll go over and read it.
