So a couple of years ago I started to get a tickle in my throat sometimes when I laid down. I thought it had something to do with my acid reflux. After my last endoscopic late 2012 didn't show any damage I haven't given it much though until now.
Since I have been diagnosed with RA the tickle has gradually got worse and now it doesn't seem to matter if I am laying down or not. Right now I am only on MTX for my RA. I have taken medicine for my acid reflux for about 10 years.
Does anyone have any suggestions or advice before I go to a ENT to see what is going on?

I had this exact issue!!! Before getting diagnosed with RA and before methotrexate. Although, I do have damage shown in my endoscopy, prisolec didn't seem to help. I had a cough for many months, so they sent me to a pulmonary specialist. They ended up saying that my lungs are being extra sensitive to everything, like having allergies, only everything is an irritant to my brochial tubes. They gave me symbicort to use twice a day, and albuterol, and I started taking claritin every day. I don't get the tickle ever anymore.

A few weeks back I asked about throat problems. There were several good discussions that someone had posted a link for me to look at. If you look back a few pages you may be able to find them.

I have swelling in my throat that has progressively gotten worse over the last ten years. I now use a CPAP machine for sleep apnea because my throat will close on me when I am sleeping.

I am now sure it is from RA. I just had to take a taper pack of prednisone to stop a terrible migraine. After taking the large dose on the first day, my throat felt normal again. It usually feels like someone is lightly squeezing my throat. This makes me think it is RA so I will be seeing an ENT to get it checked out.
