My resolution this year was to go somewhere every month this year. Just weekend type getaways, nothing major. The hubby and I love to travel but all of 2011 I found myself cancelling trips because I just couldn't function. So this year I decided to take my life back. I changed rheumy's, officially diagnosed and treatment plans in place. Additionally I've managed to keep my resolution so far. Yay me! LOL. To celebrate my birthday (and hubby's since we have the same birthday) this month we've planned a bigger vacation. Heading to Boston, Providence and New York City.

Am I the only one that felt my life wasn't my own? I felt the doctors, and the disease, were running my life more than I was.

This is an excellent plan....in fact....i may need to follow suit with something like this as well.... For years I have cancelled, not involved myself, and let life pass me by. Even small, short get away or short day trips wld help me mentally and emotionally..... yay for u. This is great....

Yeah! I went to NYC last year, don't make the mistake I did and I walked to far the first day so the next few days I had to stay back at the hotel so don't overdo.

I just went to Boston earlier this month, it was cold and raining so in a way it was good that the weather was bad because then it was the weather that put a damper on things and not me (because of RA limits;)

Thanks everyone! I really have to remind myself that life is going on with or without me. The hubby is really good at reining me in so I don't overdo. I have a tendency to really overdo when he's not around. None of these trips are hiking or mountain climbing type things...just relaxing getaways.

I'm not looking forward to the long flight though...hoping we get upgraded!

Thanks Scarlett. I can honestly say my view of this disease is much better because of this forum! Everyone here has been a tremendous help to me and my peace of mind!

I love this idea!! RA can REALLY get a person down, but making sure that you control disease, rather than the disease controlling you is such a great idea. Way to go!

Good for you! I've come to a similar conclusion myself. I just try to do more with friends and family and it really helps with the blahs.
