I am post Lyme seronegative RA. Rheumy put me on mobic and placquenil for the terrible pain in the fingers of both hands plus both feet. Took an agonizing 6 weeks to work but I was feeling better. Then, as most of you have experienced, I started feeling more miserable. But my fingers and toes didn't hurt! I felt crappy etc so Rheumy started me on methotrexate ( I refuse prednisone). With much fear and trepidation I started it. First dose of 4 pills and I felt better. So much better. Hmm went up to five pills the next week. Hmm maybe I'll keep it low. Not happy after two weekly doses of 5 pills instead of moving up to the six. Took six this week before bed and woke up saying,"Ahhhh!" Nice. (Got folic acid too,don't worry.) I seem to tolerate the mtx well.
My discovery is that now I've noticed some RA symptoms that I didn't know were symptoms are now gone with this treatment. I was having terrible shooting needle pains in ankles when going down stairs.Like sh**-I'm-gonna-fall pains. Gone. If I rotated wrists or ankles I'd get crick crack crick crack. Gone. If it talked a bit much in one day, I'd lose my voice. All better now. No problem. Niiicceee. Of course now that I've shared this, I'm probably jinxing myself. I still have some pain, but I can deal with it. Yes, I'm not stupid enough to think things will remain the same. I understand it is a progressive disease, but I wanted to offer a bright story to all. God is good.
