oh no, co-insurance of the usual and customary? is there an agreement where they can't bill you the difference of the usual and customary fee versus the charged fee? or is this a non-participating out of network usual and customary payment?

What does the Explanation of Benefits that goes along with the claim say?

If you owe 200$ it seems like you have no copays....my insurance is everything is subject to my deductible, then it's covered 100%. Some plans are like this, or maybe after deductible there's a, say, 20% coinsursnce. Then there's some plans with copays higher for specialists like rheumatologists higher than doc copays. If you keep having to switch, I totally agree. Call your insurance first and ask why your bill is 200$. Was the doc out of network? Ask. They can explain.

We pay in insurance premiums something like 7500$ a year, then all my medical costs and meds are subject to a 5000$ deductible before insurance pays out. And because we have a huge premium for "family", BUT my husbands work offered per obamacare "affordable" self only insurance, his entire insurance qualifies for "affordable" and we can not get on the exchange or subsidies.

Obamacare does not help if your job offered affordable self insurance, but charges thousands and thousands for "family" coverage. It would be better for us to divorce under obamacare so me and the kids could get cheaper insurance, so we can afford healthcare in essence....which isn't happening. So I totally get the whole "can't afford" this.

This insurance overhaul may help some, but it in essence punishes families when self is affordable with your job, but families premiums are sky high and you have no other option. Ok, rant done. I just see our money slipping like water because of this disease.

Call the insurance first thing. Ask. They can explain it all.

Not that it would do much good-but have you tried contacting your new insurance and explain that the closiest rheuro is too far for you to travel (fib and say you have no means to get there)
And or Perhaps your current rheuro also can contact the new one-speak to them and see how they plan on handling your case...that way you will be reassured or try to find a way to pay the stupid bill ?

Ugh I feel the same.
$$$$$, so unfair. Yet I try to count my blessings.
Insurance is out of control.
It's to the point they bankrupt & dictate our care.

I lost my medical insurance and also lost my rheumy but found that my PCP will treat my RA just as well and is a smaller copay. He can diagnose it for you and treat it with every medication except biologics so why don't you have your PCP treat you? Even if you have to get a new one its much easier to get an apt with a pcp than with a rheumy so you wont have to wait. That's what I did and Im not even looking for a new rheumy anymore since my regular doc treats me just as well for my needs with RA at this time
