Reading yours and other people's posts here always puts things in perspective for me, especially on days that I feel a bit sorry for myself. I am in pain pretty much every day, but it is still bearable and I am mostly functioning.
I know many of the folks here are worse and seem to be dealing with the mental aspect much better than I am. It makes me want to be stronger myself.
I can usually deal with things if I understand the WHY of what is going on. The pain I can deal with because I understand why, and thankfully have a medication that helps take the edge off.
But the feel good for 1-2-3 days then can hardly get out of a chair for a couple days makes no sense to me. Since I have been going through this for over 3 years now, I really pay attention to what I do and what I have done the previous couple days. When I get that "crash" I look back the few days previous to see what I might have done to cause this crash and can't come up with solid pattern. Yeah, I will overdo it on the days I feel better and pay for that - and I understand that part. Took a walk in the woods 2 days ago then my ankles are really bad - I understand that. It's the fatigue and actual poisoned feeling that I can't find a pattern with.
Oh well - at least with threads like this and the great folks on this forum it actually does make it feel a little better knowing this stuff is common with us and I am not the only one feeling this way.
I stand by my life's motto - It is what it is.
"Never knowing day to day is so frustrating! Hard to plan anything,"
People just don't understand this. For instance, my in-laws will invite us for Christmas dinner among other things. There is no way I will know how I feel on that day 1-2-3 weeks from now. The closest I can usually tell if I can take a day trip is the night before. Even then I'm afraid of getting the dreaded RA fog and/or the fatigue that goes with it.
The same goes when I go to my Rheumatologist appointment - always the same when I am done making an appointment for 3 months out. I just kind of laugh, take the appointment card, and forget about it until the day before I have to go.
