Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. I drank honey ginger tea. I think it helped some.
I have been on Simponi for a few years now. Of course we know that most of the immune-suppression drugs (be they disease modifiers or biologics) leave us for sitting ducks with infections of any kind (bacterial or viral). I have had to delay injections for sinus infections and colds, etc. It is just part of the game we have to play. If it is minor your doc may let you go ahead and do the injection but only your RA doc can say what the best idea is. Just be totally upfront with your doctor and together make the decision. I am a department manager for our local government. I TELL my staff DO NOT COME TO WORK SICK. I don't care how dedicated it makes you look -- do not bring cooties in to work! I wash my hands a lot and I do get a flu shot. We can do that -- can't get a shingles shot though when on biological. I do what I can to stay healthy and it is mostly through our behavior changes that we can protect ourselves. Don't hang our with someone who is noticeably sick and all you can do is your best... I hope you don't have to skip your shot and I am thrilled that Simponi is working for you!
Regards,
Kyle
You get to hug (hold your breath), but only touch clothing. If you shake hands, remember not to put the hand anywhere near your face until you wash/use a sanitizer. There's some exposure you can't change, but so much you can. I had the displeasure of watching my mom, who has Non Hodgkin's Lymphoma go through a winter with chemo treatments (greatly reduced immune system). She never got sick! We all jumped on the bandwagon and minimized our risk to keep her safe. I've got some decent habits now.
Best of luck. Hope you keep seeing improvement from your Simponi.
