So i went to my rheumy appointment last week, Christmas Eve. From my discussions with my doctor i am not improving as much as she would like to have seen.
So she's added a new medications, this one is mostly to try and see if it helps but ultimately she wants me to go onto Humira as she feels that it would have the best outcome.
Some frustrating news i got from her, which we are seeing a pulmonary specialist this week, Thursday. Is she believes i have to overlapping/crossover autoimmune disorders. She is positive i have RA as well as one called Sarcoidosis.
Currently my medications are Arava, Methotrexate, Folic Acid, Mobic and Leucovorin calcium.
She had asked me about adding prednisone to the mix, however while i feel like i can take on the world while on it. I do not like the side effects and i prefer it to be something that i take only when i need to. Which after our talk i probably need it buttt i'm holding out until i cant stand the discomfort anymore.
I did get the go ahead to no see her until March unless something changes..so i imagine i wont make it until March.

He wants me to start on Remicade.
Actually I was relieved that he wanted to do this bc i have been in so much pain for the passed two months...I'm ready to try something else.
He said the biologics really target and do such a better job and have much less side effects than the dmards.
Is not unusual for auto immune disease to come in pairs...in fact quite common.
I'm on Arava, Plaquenil, nsaids, as well.

I was hoping to stay off of the biologics for a while, but if they are going to give the best chance at me being comfortable again. Then im all for them..once we can convince my insurance i need them.
This entire thing has been so frustrating and exhausting. I am happy for the new year to come, maybe there will be some positive news in all this!
