I believe that MTX and some infusions can cause a rash. Sorry you are going through this. Keep us posted on what the rheumy says. Wishing you well,

I would call your doc about it. If you are on methotrexate or biologics you are an increased risk for fungal or bacterial infections. Don't want that to spread! :)

Just got back from the Rheumy and it is a fungal infection. He wants me to take Lamisil tablets but I won't do it as they are hard on the liver. So I am just going to use a topical cream to see if it helps. Yes it is from my lower immune system.

I have been using a that has Miconazole it and some wipes that have a soothing lotion in it also some Miconazole. It has been working great. The rash on my butt and inner and upper thighs is gone. The breast rash is just about gone and doesn't hurt anymore. Thank you for the advice. I have bookmarked the site and if it comes back I will look into getting some. Sometimes I wonder is the Enbrel and MTX are worth all the things I keep coming down with. Then I remember the pain and say Yes!

I have had topical yeast infections for years even before the RA meds. In starts in warm, dark, moist places like under the breasts. My first bout of it spread all across my stomache and itched like crazy! Now I keep a tube of Miconazole on hand so if I start to feel something happening I take care of it right away.

It could also be shingles. I have all kinds of skin allergies, and shingles was the worst - it usually follows a nerve - but it can be quite wide patches. I tried about 10 different things, from cortisone cream to anti-fungals, and the only thing that helped was Famvir. I am still on maintenance Valtrex.

The problem with RA drugs, is they suppress your immune system, and it takes a long time to get over shingles - not the prescribed one week of anti-virals. Also, the notes from the pharmacy about not spreading genital herpes in the active phase were very insulting! LOL

Be sure to check this out - even the dermatologist was clueless. It's the itchy blisters is my first clue. Hope you get this figured out.
