Sick Day :(

After being sick (I thought with a cold virus), for 10+ days, I finally went to the Dr. I was not getting any better and I felt as though my head was going to explode - no joke! I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and a double ear infection! No wonder! So now I'm on antibiotics and steroid nose spray. It's been 24 hours and I'm not feeling any better yet, so I took the day off. It has been miserable going to work, but honestly writing sub plans and getting the kids back into a routine, it super hard and stressful. I'm actually really proud of myself for finally doing what I need to do for me :). Plus, I took my Enbrel shot on Saturday, which I should have skipped!

What is your doc's rule about taking Enbrel while on antibiotics? I know with mine, I'm not to take my MTX while on antibiotics but I use Orencia for a biologic and it's an every 4 week infusion and that too gets cancelled if I'm on antibiotics.

May want to check and see if you need to stop your shot until you are through the meds.

Feel better soon...you sound miserable. But kudos for taking care of yourself!

As they say, iteach, " you got it bad!" It sounds dreadful. Poor you! And you kept working! I hope someone will make you some Chicken Soup and hot tea. I remember always getting that sick because I would catch everything my students had. I was always telling them "cover your mouth!"

It's easy to minimize how ill we can become, because, if you are like me, I think it's the RA or the meds, and it turns out to be an infection.

RA does keeps us busy manage things. It's mean and doesn't like to let up.

I hope you start feeling better right now...

My Rheumatologist, like Jen's, says no to mtx or any of the biologics when sick and/or on antibiotics. The biologic thing is a bit hard to work around now, since it is an infusion every 5 months.

Just my 2 cents.....My rheumy tells me antibiotics are fine with the Enbrel. I have done that dance a couple times.

Thanks all. I took my shot of Enbrel before I went on antibiotics. I will call my rheumy and check if I should take my methotrexate Wednesday and my shot Saturday. I won't be done w/ antibiotics until next week.
I really appreciate all your advice. Sometimes I'm on auto pilot with these meds and it's a wake up call!

2-3 wks ago I had a sinus infection and ears were full of fluid and red. I thought I just had a cold too....felt sooo bad. Took the antibiotics several days to kick in. Hope you're feeling better by now.
