Shoulder update

Well....it's not a rotator cuff issue at all. (I was hoping it would be a simple tear and easily fixable.) Instead I have thickening in the inferior joint capsule, cysts in the posterolateral humeral head, severe bursitis in the subacromial-subdeltoid bursa, spurring and supraspinatus/infraspinatus tendinopathy. Ugh. I'm not sure what's what or what's related to RA.

Any of this sound familiar to y'all?

Bursitis I have had; but nothing in comparison to your menu! I remember they gave me a cortisone shot in the shoulder cap, a spur had broken off and lodged under the cuff, painful but the shot fixed me right up. Hope your solve is as easy. Keep us up to date. Trish

I had 2 tears, and bone spurs in my shoulder...the doc fixed the tears and got rid of the spurs, he wasn't worried about those at all, he was concerned that I had a buttload of arthritis in my shoulder it was at that point I realized something serious was going on....cortizone shots should help with a lot of what is on it will help get that swelling and inflammation down and help you heal...

I did have a cortisone injection....and he drained some of the fluid off. I really can't feel a difference yet but I'm hoping for the best.

Oh My RCross. I'm so down that you didn't get what you were hoping for - pooh, yes, POOH I say. Goodness, mom will really give me the willow for being ugly.

I'm sorry RCross. This is such a circus with this RA thing. I wish I could rub a magic lamp for us all but I don't know how ...

Rcross - oh my gosh, that sounds just awful! I don't know anything about shoulder issues, but just wanted to pass on my good wishes to you for a very quick healing and recovery!

Thank you for keeping us posted. I was hoping it would be a simple answer for you, I'm so sorry it's not. This stinks.

Thank you all! I'm hoping to hear from the rheumy today. His nursed called yesterday to let me know the ortho and rheumy are consulting on next steps. Well next steps beyond the cortisone injection I received.

RA Sally....everything was dx via MRI. Both my rheumy and ortho are involved and the radiologist of course. Ortho drained some of the fluid from my bursa and injected cortisone. I think he stated he was sending the fluid to pathology as well. Not sure what information he can get from that. I'm really pleased that my ortho is open (and willing) to consult with the rheumy for best next steps.

The reason I went to the ortho for my shoulder was because it's the only joint that I haven't had any improvement in and it's actually become worse. I thought it was something other than RA affecting it. I'm still not sure what all those terms mean but I'm hoping the rheumy will help me understand!
