Does it feel more like the muscles? Or does it feel like your muscles are gone and bones are hurting?
It sure sounds like you are going to get stuck taking some more prednisone. And that's never good.

feels like very bad bone pain....I keep crying out because the pain keeps just stabbing me. I've never had this severe of pain in legs and to come on this quick.. I cant even tell where the pain is originating from. If I am still hurting this bad tomorrow I am calling pain dr to see if he can get me in. He is also an ortho dr.

I think that's a great idea! Since it's both legs, it's probably RA, but you definitely have to think about your glucose too.

I have leg pains but different areas are different causes. The burning pain down the back of my leg from buttocks to ankles is from my sciatic being inflamed & being pinched by my piriformis.

The stabbing inner thigh pain is edema in the adductor muscle. It feels like literally being stabbed and I cant hold weight or walk when its severe.

My feet, ankles & calves stay swollen and that's a tender soreness.

Now the muscles in the back of my legs are cramping & tight so
solving that mystery is next on the list. Sitting & standing cause them to lock up. Almost feels like I've been standing on my tip toes all day. It's driving me nuts.

Nerve pain is usually more burning and muscle pain is more stabbing & throbbing.

That's just some ideas of what might be causing some of your issues. The common denominator is inflammation.

thank you. the severe pain has got worse all down my legs and now moved into the shoulders, neck, arms, basically most areas. I went to my rheumy and got a steroid shot in the muscle to try to get some relief. I see my ortho dr on Monday I will ask about all of this. I have had bad facet joint pain and have had medial branch blocks done. Im due to have them again since it has been several years and they grow back but I have so much other stuff going on medically I cant afford it.

I had the lumbar facet steroid injection and got good relief from it but I'm a chicken to go get the next stage done where they heat the nerves and basically shut them down for a year or two. Did it work well for you? Was it 100% relief or close? Did you get both sides done? (Mine is very low back, like L5 area, maybe Sacrum even)

I'm doing physical therapy right now as the my core body is weak and shaky from sitting around the last few years. It's supposed to help the back by getting the rest of the body to do their jobs. If it doesn't help, I will need to get what you've had done.

Bcatz- yes, it was about 3 yrs ago where they did both sides (one month apart). They burned the nerve endings and it worked very well for me. The first thing I noticed was I always had (like in the year leading up to the procedure) I always needed my power wheelchair or my walker because standing and walking was so very painful, I would need to have my walker with the seat on it wherever I went. A month after both sides were done I, for the first time in a couple of years, was able to walk thru Walmart just holding the basket..I was able to build up to being on my feet for about an hour. Over the last year though the burning has been coming back. I will definitely do it again if I had the money. It was really worth it.

What complicates things now of course is the RA. I'm not sure how much it has affected my back/spine/etc. I would think that the medial branch block would be successful still it just makes me wonder how much other areas are affected now. I'd say "Go For It!"

Thank you! I'm 48 (almost 49) and it's ridiculous that standing in the yard talking to a neighbor for 10 minutes leaves me rushing in the house to sit and bend forward to ease my back pain! I only had the left side injected for the steroid and for 16 days, I could do most everything with minimal complaint. I was walking a lot and was just about to start walking outside for exercise, which is a big deal considering how bad the back had been.

The right side was bad and I was supposed to go back the next week but my liver enzymes showed high AND the steroid injections raised my bp for days. I hadn't experienced that before.

My insurance will cover the procedure and I have already met my deductible for the year so if the physical therapy doesn't do the trick I'll go back to spine doc before the end of fall.
