I have very few side effects from Orencia and have been getting it every 4 weeks for the past 7 years. I got sicker on Enbrel and had an allergic reaction to Humira so I was worried........and it's been a breeze.
Relax.
hugs..........Jen
Actemra was another issue. I got quite sick after the first infusion, and then it just got worse and worse. That was a wasted 8 months!
I think having reactions is the exception to the rule. The clinic I went to did Rituxan and Actemra. The clinic for Remicade was across the hall. I never saw anyone get sick in 4 years of going for infusions.
So hopefully, you will have a good day tomorrow, and the Remicade will start to work quickly.
I started Humira self injections about 2 months ago.... OMG... my life has really changed. I was falling backwards w/ a terrible flare and I could no longer live w/ the pain.
It stopped the pain almost immediately... the next day I was so much better.... and now I no longer have crashses. I do have to still pace myself but I'm back to walking my dog, back to doing crafts, and the pain is way under control.
I was like you... I was terrified. I just stopped listening to the commercials, stopped listening to the "horrific" things that MIGHT happen, and realized that these biologics have helped many many more people than they have harmed.
If you stump your big toe while on a biologic, you have to report it. Lol...
My doctor have NEVER had a patient come down w/ cancer.... in all of her practice. I told her I was afraid. She understood that... but she said these drugs have literally saved lived and helped prevent heart disease, etc that can happen with RA.
I was beginning to have eye problems bc of RA. I had inflammation in my left eye. My vision wouldn't clear up... and I now have Sjorgens.... which many ppl have. It started to make me realize that RA affects so many other organs... and it really does need to be controlled.
Now my left eye is cleared up, and I feel so much better. I wish you the best of luck.
