episteme: your employer has to make reasonable accomodations....slippers sound reasonable to me. Try it.

I love my Easy Spirit Traveltimes. They have removable insoles, can be washed in the washing machine and dried, come in a variety of colors, and most of all, when my feet and ankles are swollen (which is most of the time), they are the only shoes that I can get my poor feet into. At least they look decent enough to wear outside the house. I have one pair of dress shoes that I bought a whole size larger for when I have to dress a little better and the swelling is present.

I discovered the Traveltimes when I was looking for some slip-ons to wear when I fly. Even though they are slip-ons, they have really good support.

I have been searching for shoes forever.. I was out this past week again and NOTHING.... Seems the right foot has some isues and does not want to work with the left! Slippers are my best friend :O))

Good article. I had painful ankles for almost a year. I went to two good podiatrist who got me on the right track and told me to wear at least a one inch heel all the time even at home. No flat bedrooms shoes. It helped the problem. I was never one for two high of a heel even before the arthritis. I am 5'6" so I don't need the heel for height.

I have certainly have learned my lesson on sizing. I now always buy at least a half size and many time a full size larger. The toe box is another area I pay close attention to, my toes are always stiff and pulling, so I want extra room, that way they aren't pinched or stuffed. Recently I have bought several pair of shoes from Haband. It is an on line inexpensive place for all kinds of clothing, but I have had really good luck with the velcro shoes and some slip ons. They are comfortable and they don't cost me an arm and a leg to buy, then find out after wearing them a time or two that my feet aren't going to like them. Good luck, Charlei
