Hello!  I am new to this support group but I have had Rheumatoid Arthritis for years.  I take Humira, Methotrexate, and Folic Acid.  When I can stay on my medications they work pretty well together.  The last time I did the Methoxerate injection it threw my IBS into all kinds of havok.  I am still trying to get my stomach settled back down.

Hi, Fay. The crazy and frustrating thing about this disease is that one solution won't work for any of us. It's really a slog to get through all of the options. What I've noticed is that the people who post here, who bring up setbacks like you're having with the MTX, do eventually find the right combination. Don't be shy about speaking up, contact your doctor and explain what's going on and ask for other options. There's a lot of things to try. I hope you find your magic combination soon!

Welcome.
I'm on the same stuff but I'm new to this and the Humira hasn't started working yet. Flairing like crazy. Hope you get things working soon.

Humira took quite a while (months) to work for me. Enbrel worked overnight. Literally. I felt 100% better the next day.

As for your IBS, I just recently started taking over the counter digestive enzymes (one before every meal) and they have helped me tremendously. Before I started taking them, I was running to the bathroom four and five times a day (sometimes all in the morning) or more, and always with cramping and diarrhea. I recently had a colonoscopy and they did find microscopic colitis, which my GI doc says could be caused by my medications. No fun, this game, is it?

I did try Enbrel before I got on Humira. It did work for a while for me but it got to where it did not work as well so I switched to the Humira.

The IBS is very hard to treat. Most of the medicines I am prescribed usually do not help much or make the symptoms worse. I will try the over the counter digestive enzymes and see if that helps. Thanks!!
