I put off starting it, but my eyes were driving me nuts. I was putting Refresh drops in my eyes numerous times a day. I was told by a friend to try the nighttime Refresh ointment. That has worked very well. It feels icky when you first put it in your eyes, because it is gooey, but not painful, at all. It really is very comforting and I don't need to use the tears for hours. So comforting that I debated on not starting the Restassis. I decided to start it, though because it can actually help you produce tears, while the artificial tears and ointments just soothe temporarily. You can still use those products while taking the Restassis, until it starts working.
I think I'm rambling, now. Just relating my experience, for what it's worth.
