Anyone out there get scabby scalp? So it has only happened to me twice, and I thought dandruff, and when I was asked about rashes I keep thinking I never had any and answer the doctor no. I was reading up on psoriatic arthritis and they talk about scalp psoriasis and this sounds more like what my thought to be dandruff might be. Now looking back when it happens it lasted for like a month, kind of like a flare. My RA diagnosis is actually on hold for now as I am told I do not have a typ. presentation...no swelling. Read that some psoriatic arthritis patients are positive anti-ccp. Just wondering if scalp issues are common for established RA. I will be sure to mention it to my doctor since it seems to be relevant.
The methotrexate keeps it in check. I also use homemade shampoo with no preservative or fake stuff in it
Dying my hair knocks it back too, but if I'm in the middle of an outbreak, it is not a pleasant experience.
Anti-CCP is not used in diagnosing or monitoring PsA- my recollection is that it is highly specific to RA.
Do you have a dermatologist? If so he/she may be able to tell quickly whethter your scalp problem is psoriasis.
Take a hard look at your fingernails and toenails. Ridging pitting, lifting, or discoloration are all common with PsA, with little pits being almost universal.
