I am in the same boat. I am on lyrics for Fm and methotrexate and plaquenil for the ra. I have gained around 30 pounds in the last year. Most days are bearable, but there are some days that are unreal with pain. Especially when the weather changes.....it sucks, but I keep telling myself one day at a time.

I too know your feeling. I was dx with FM about 3 years ago and 6 months later with RA. I am on Cymbalta for the FM and MTX and Actemra for the RA. I have also been recently put back on prednizone and was taken off naprosyn and put on voltaren for the inflammation both pills and gel. Since I have been put on the last 2 I have had alittle more releaf. I gained 50 lbs just before being dx with the fibro. That was one of my symptoms. I finally lost 20 and then meds put that back on me and has stayed. I have sorda excepted that I may never return to 120s. I have had no appetite for weeks but still not lost weight. Don't beat yourself up over the weight gain with meds IF it brings releaf because for us lowering pain levels is much more important. Best of luck with finding the meds that works best for you. I have had fibro, and lupus, and now this (?) Also a raging case of neuropathy and can`t wear shoes - just busted at work for wearing slippers! They should be glad I even show up, I know I am... G-

I have both, and take flexeril, MTX, Prednisone, folic acid and pain meds. I did gain 10 lbs in a month after starting flexeril, but I have lost 5 lbs, and hope to lose the rest soon.

My doc gave me Neurontin for the numbness in my fee ( back issue ) and it has helped my Fibro more than anything!

I was diagnosed w/ fibro nearly 20'years ago and arthritis 1.1/2 yrs ago. I have tried so many different meds for the fibro pain and now the arthritis pain, but haven't found any effective pain mgt. thankfully no weight gain.

Thank you all for your replies and advise :) I guess the answer is to carry on, carry on...carry on and pray for miracles....I know that I am not alone in this battle.

CheerryG I believe that you are a true warrior to leave your home while in such pain. Slippers are my friend too.

Ink joy you gave me hope that I too may loose some of the pounds I've put on this 5' 2" frame of mine.

TWGarrett - Thank you for sharing your journey with all of this. I have been on prednisone, voltaren , naprosyn,and meloxicam. I can't tolerate any of them because fosamax absolutely trashed my stomach. SO I am on MTX, folic acid, lots of supplements and flexeril. Wow 13 months ago I was on "0", nothing........life is crazy.

Fosamax is nasty! My mom took it by IV for6 months or so and she ended up with a bone infection around an dental implant she had put in about five years before. The Oral Surgeon said that no one with implants should ever take Fosamax. Sadly this does not seem to be widely known by MD's.
I used to take neurontin for undiagnosed pain in my legs. I helped for a while, but since the unknown pain was fibro AND RA, it stopped helping and I stopped taking it. So just a thought of something that might help. There is another nerve blocker, but I can't remember its name.
