Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic, inflammatory, multisystem, autoimmune disorder. It's funny, but in K-12, apparently parents can say, No, my child is NOT taking vaccines." but in colleges in Texas, you cannot enroll unless you have taken the meningitis vaccine.
I feel blessed that vaccines were invented! Parents who don't vaccinate are taking a bigger risk than they think, mostly because as the unvaccinated number of folks gets to a certain size, the chances of being in contact with an infected person grows! If you are the only unvaccinated person, no one else is gonna be sick, but if 20% are unvaccinated, then someone is likely to get sick. My two cents.
It is scary to me not to have a child vaccinated....but I have empathy for those moms who are terrified of living with a child on the spectrum. We had several really bad years when he was small and still have struggles as he learns to live in a world that makes no sense to him at all.
My kids have all been vaccinated(except for the middle school shots for my one who reacted badly enough to end up in the ER)....and I always preach that it isn't the vaccines that cause this....but I can't guarantee I am right. And Autism is a scary prospect.
Just my thoughts.....Marianne
