After a really good week, starting having more stiffness yesterday. I blamed it on the weather, a early spring snowstorm... cold, damp and yucky! I'm on the same meds... still on 5mg of prednisone, but noticed yesterday and today that a couple of my finger joints pop... for lack of a better description. They don't hurt, just kinda pop out of the joint when I bend it. Both of my little fingers and my right index (the worst one for stiffness and pain also). If I massage them, it seems to stop. Is this just another lovely 'gift' from RA? Again, doesn't hurt, just a weird feel and I can actually hear them pop! I don't go back to RA until 2 May, but going to see my primary care Dr. hopefully this week. I just want to keep her up to date on what is going on and she has been my dr. for quite some time and I really TRUST her. The RA dr. is new and I like her, but still.................

ps.. not sure if this matters or not, but I'm VERY small boned... wear a 4 1/2 ring on ring finger.. guess if joints were bigger, they would just make a bigger sound!

I get it. My rt wrist is popping all of the time. Its disconcerting as hell! I am going to have the thing x-rayed before I go see my doc on the 3rd. I know it is connected somehow because that knuckle is constantly swollen and the wrist aches. I'll let you know, Trish

I did have an xray in January when first diagnosed (right hand only as was the one bothering me the most). I was told that everything was fine. i actually have NO swelling in joints at all, no redness or anything. I got into my primary care tomorrow (she is SO good to me) and will chat with her about stuff and ask about that also. My hands are better this afternoon. I actually bought a foot massager a week ago and found that the warm water and bubbles feel really good on my hands! I so hope that warmer weather will help, but don't think that winter is EVER going to leave Virginia (this is the South?). That Dang Rodent missed it again this year! Thanks!

I don't have anything that actually pops out of place, but it does sound like packing bubbles when I get up or change position. My fingers, toes, knees, wrists, occasionally hips, all pop. But x-rays show I'm doing fine. I've seen other RAers joke about popping and cracking too. I think as long as nothing is actually being dislocated, it's just "normal". I have (had?) small fingers too. My wedding ring is a 5. It no longer fits though. :( Now I need a 6, which I've been told by a jeweler is still small, they only stock 7 and up.

Hi Donnarae, my knuckles pop alot and I have gone from a 7 to a 10 on my ring size. I blame the prednisone. I don't think it is good to pop them but if I don't they cramp real bad. Let us know what the dr says. Hugs, Terri

my primary care dr. yesterday said that she wasn't very concerned about the popping little fingers... kinda said 'normal'. BUT, she did recommend that I get a second opinion on the RA... I haven't had the CCP test yet (not sure why tho), but RA factor was 19 and sed rate was 13 and have NO swelling or redness of joints. just the stiffness. She is not sure what is going on, but gave me the name of a RA dr. in Richmond that she said she would send her mother to....... She didn't bash my current RA dr. but said maybe a second opinion is in order.... hmmmmm.... doing really good now that the weather has warmed up some... we shall see!
