They sure do pile up, don't they. Here is what I did with mine;
Since I have to travel almost 2 hours, one way, to see my Rheumatologist, Hemotologist, Orthopedist, eye Dr, etc, I go to grocery stores where I can get things I can not get up here, and a wider selection of organic foods. I keep those ice packs in the freezer, so I can put them in the two large coolers I keep in my car. Eventually, they get hard as a rock, but my organic fruits/veggies/dairy do not care. Other ideas:

1. ask neighbors if they would like any
2. fishermen may find it useful for bait
3. keep one in the car for keeping bottled water/pop cool
4. when I go to the land fill, I use to put some out on a table, so that people could get them
5. give to Salvation Army/Good Will to basically give away to those who shop there.

One of the drug companies, to be more green, started using these 'large envelope' shaped things, reflective. Those are great for bringing hot dishes to places.

I get infusions now, so do not have any more of those coolers/ice packs.

I get those with my Kinaret. I feel terribly guilty if I throw them away, but there are only so many that I can use. I don't get a styrofoam cooler, though.They are great quality; they stay cool for days. I gave one to my mother. I called the company that sends them what I should do with them, but they had no ideas.I think I will start bringing them to work because it's always too hot there.

2leftfeet: with my brain fog, I thought you meant fishermen could use the packs as actual bait, and I couldn't figure out how!

Know anyone that does a lot of camping...My kids love them.

I don't know if you could put them at the end of your drive and put FREE on them... maybe someone would take them... At my daughter's house she can get rid of anything that way... people will take any thing she puts there with Free on it.

An idea just hit me. My son is one of those people who love fish tanks and often buys fish on-line. He has thought about selling some of his own fish but has wondered about getting coolers to send them in.

So...I was thinking, if you check on-line to see if anyone buys or sells tropical fish in your area, they may want to buy them from you. You could even try a small tropical fish store that isn't with a huge chain to see if they want them or want to buy them.

My son had to stop his addiction to fish as it became overwhelming time-wise and no longer has indoor fish...only outdoor.

I have the same thing with Orencia. I just let my husband deal with it. He likes the boxes, and the ice packs we just let unthaw, unless we are traveling with the cooler and then I freeze a few the night before.

When I lived in Edmonton, the pharmacy dealt with all the packing and ice packs. But here, I have to get it shipped from a city 4 hours away.

Some interesting ideas here on ways to use them!

2left mentioned the salvation army which made me think of our local food bank.....called the food bank and they said the coolers and cool pacs would be perfect for the homeless that they serve!
