So i got a call last week to lower the dose of MTX to .5ml from .6ml. I took the meds im supposed to take 6 hours after i take the MTX...however yesterday morning i woke up...i take my mtx on thursday night....with a fever of 101-102F and i just felt like complete crap. I slept most of yesterday and today i feel better the fever broke and i feel less crapish..was this caused by the MTX or not?
I always run on the low side of temp..dont ask me why :P i also rarely run 'fevers' double pneamonia last year i barely got to 99.0..but with my lower body temp my doc said that was a pretty serious temp.
anyhoo, about the mtx. i can't see how lowering your dose would cause that kind of reaction. could it be the meds you took after the mtx? which is that? since the fever spiked and seemed to run its course in 24 hours, maybe your body was just run down or trying to fight something else off...?
I, like both of you, run a very low temp when I'm "normal". Usually in between 96.7 - 97.5. Anything at 99.0+ feels like a fever to me.
With that being said, I started MTX about 1 1/2 months ago and have noticed that somedays after my dose (Thursday nights) I do feel very achy, and I can FEEL feverish, but everytime I take my temp, it's right around 97.5 or below.
I still FEEL like I have a fever, but the thermometer says otherwise. I'm a little concerned that your increased temperature may just be an ill-timed sickness. We have seen a lot of colds going around this month.
I would call/see the doctor. If it is the start of something bigger (flu, bronchitis, pneumonia), you want to get on meds ASAP!
