prednisone wean

So after six mths I finally could cut my pred is one from 10 mg to 5 mg. I did that 10 days ago. I woke today feeling like crap..and my hips ache again! Could it be my taper and I just need to wait it out or should I bump back to 10 mg? I really want off pred. But don't want a relapse in my hips. Any suggestions?

pred is a great masker of the disease. i am not surprised it is hooting and hollering :) - during my tapers after pneumonias I am always worse than before I started the pred - i rebound to a worse place. that's how pred works on me (instead of for me)

depends. you could shower love on your adrenal glands, and keep trudging towards the pred elimination goal or you could rebound back to the original amount because you can't work or live. what do you think?

I was able to wean off prednisone after taking it for 6 months. I was off for about 3 months than have either flared or humira is not working anymore still trying.g to work this out. Doc going with flare and would like me to try and wean off after taking for 2 weeks now. Still needing additional pain meds for chest pain though so probably wait a few more days. If continues doc talking of switching to enbrel or infusion biologic. You could try to take 7.5 mg and wean down slower and see if that helps. I understand about not wanting to take prednisone I was so happy when I was able to get off it.

So...after ten days of five mg pred. Taper..my bp was 70/46. Last nite. I went back to ten mg. Adrenal insufficiency....
