Every time I see the words "prednisone" and "weight loss" in proximity I just sigh. Not sure there is a good answer. My hunch is that, for me at least, it doesn't increase my appetite, per se, as much as it interferes with the feeling of fullness. I'm not necessarily constantly hungry, just never full. Makes it much easier to justify eating something else.
i almost gained 15 lbs from prednisone. but as i did taper it to 1mg i lost 8 lbs. now i am sure my body has definitely gained more weight again which i have to work.
i do watch my diet. i crave for something to eat but i manage controlling it. i eat very limit and changed my diet to healthy. but no matter what, i cant lose a lb with diet unless i get rid of that medicine. i like prednisone, but i hate what it does to my body. i AM ALL BLOWN UP. I HATE TO SEE MY FACE IN MIRROR.
rheumy doesnt want me to be on prednisone but cant get rid of it. i gotta go very very slow and then stop. i just started remicade. hope it helps.
MBDs2 and I have iced decaf coffee and gluten free cookies (2 per night) to curb our cravings - we both LOVE chocolate so we have to help each other with the cravings. Apples and peaches at night as well
Hope that helps.
Peace and stay warm
