my daughter is 33 yrs old and is going to pcp today because of horrible neck pain. just 6 monthes ago they told her she has tendinitis in both hands. well thats what they told me at the same age only they called mine carpal tunnel..my mom also hand carpal tunnel at the same age and had the surgery and it dident help.Im wandering if theres a connection? also my daughter has bad back pain sometimes and very fatigue. shes overweight and found out she has a under active thyroid. all the dieting and excercise is not working for her, when she told me about her neck yesterday I asked her to go to pcp and ask for ana test and xrays. Im really worried about this as any mother would I guess...I know how painfull and awefull this disease is and I will just break if she has it. as Ive worried about this happening since I was diagnosed. I would feel so damn guilty knowing its handed down from me and my mom. all prayers are appreciated. Thanks for listening.

That said, if she does have it, she comes by it honestly. And if she does have it, she is SO LUCKY to have you to advise her to get tested now. Otherwise, she could be 6 years of aches and pains down the road still waiting for someone to tell her what is wrong. Years of hurting that she can avoid.
One Truly hope she doesn't have it though. My daughter is only 8 and I think the same thoughts. I will pray for healing for your daughter Tina.
hind sight is 20/20 . . . there is no way you could have known, 34 years ago, what either of you would be going through . . .
She's very lucky to KNOW that there is a family history . . .
I spent 3 years testing every other condition that my family history could have predisposed me to. Turns out, I have 3. Two we already knew about. Chronic migraines (paternally transmitted), PCOD (maternally transmitted) and Inflammatory Arthritis (predisposition for autoimmune disorders transmitted maternally).
Fortunately, my husband and I did not have children together. However, we have custody of his son, who inherited ADHD from both sides and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (with other tendencies; from his maternal side).
No parent wants any of this for their kids, whether they are grown or not. The only thing we can do as parents is ensure we do everything in our power to make sure that they get the best care as early as possible. You have done that!!!

My dad had RA, but a milder version than mine, diagnosed at the same age as me (older, luckily, 49). And I got the same kind of cancer my mother had, at the same age, 46. But I inherited so many other amazing traits from my parents, and that is what I focus on. Though I must say I am glad they are not here to see me going through this. It must be so hard for you with your daughter.
BTW, my dad had RA in his wrist, and at 90 had carpal tunnel surgery -- the carpal tunnel was being caused by the RA. So there does seem to be a connection.
