Peridontal Surgery

Just had the sutures taken out and told it will be another 6 weeks before it heals. That's fine but he didn't use gas or prescribe pain medication after the surgery. I had to stop MTX to have it. Now he wants me to see his dental hygenist in 6 weeks. I am going to talk to my dentist and hygenist. This guy just doesn't get it. So tired of this. The joke is that in his waiting room the brochures say "now peridontal surgery doesn't have to be painsful with, anethesisa, etc. Thanks for listening.

Best wishes on feeling better soon. Also I didn't know you stopped mtx for dental surgery. Gee, I learn more here than anywhere

i am so sorry,,dental stuff i so hard, and few dentiss get it might talkk to you Rheumy about the pain though. Usually it is best if only one doc is prescribing paiin meds.

Mustlovecats, He had to cut into the jaw bone to repair the gum. A gap had formed between the back molars. I will see my dentist and if I ever need peridontal work again will find another one. Someone told me peridontal disease is common with RA. Geesh. Love to All.

I would completely think this surgery would require pain medication.
I need to have receding gum surgery one day and i am dreading it :( I have always been afraid of the dentist!

Having a crown put on a molar soon. I am fortunate. My dentist of 30 years is super nerdy and really cares. He has two patients with severe RA whom he has treated for years, so he knows what's what. I am blessed with a great Med care crew.
