Pain, Pain Go Away!

I'm in a flare--and to top that off I twisted my back. I'm in so much pain nothing give me any relief. I think Enbrel isn't working for my RA anymore--I've been taking it for 8 years. I'm just so tired of the constant pain. Sure, some days it's bearable, but the past 2 weeks have been almost unbearable. I'm so tired. I've talked to my rheumatologist and he has nothing for me. I have no other option for RA doctor. Sometimes I feel cursed. I wonder what I did to bring me such bad karma.

But I am not giving up. I have it much better than some people. At least my hands aren't gnarled masses of tissue. At least I can still walk most of the time. At least I can dress myself most days. And at least I have a loving, supportive family. So, I am blessed.

I guess I just needed to vent. Thanks for providing me a safe place to use my voice.

I'm sorry you're suffering through a flare right now. I hope you can find some relief soon. Have you tried all the different med options at this point? Hopefully there's something new out there that will help you. Hugs, Lisa

Hi there.. sorry you are feeling terribly bad... but you do have a good spirit and not letting it get the best of you!!
If I were you, I would just go in and walk up to your RA Doctor and say listen, I am in terrible pain and cannot function like this. You NEED to give me some other alternatives.

PS. to earlier comment.... Have you tried Celebrex, or flexeril, I take both, and yes they have some side effects, but I CAN TELL the DIFFERENCE if I dont take them.

Thanks for all the support. I do feel better yesterday. I think I had over done it.

I have taken Celebrex and it worked well for me, but after a bout of congestive heart failure my doc won't prescribe it for me.

I'm thinking about asking him about another biologic instead of Enbrel. At least my doc does prescribe me hydrocodone. I don't think I could make it without it.

Your story sound so familiar. Doctor doesn't have anythnig new, but prescribes Hydrocodone along with Enbrel. We've discontinued methotrexate as it has not additional benefits for me. I have daily pain and feel guilty and stupid for taking pain meds, but it beats not getting out of bed to be an active supporting member of my family (i have a husband, 5yr old daughter and 74 yr old mother I care for.) but somedays, like you, I wake at 5am in pain wondering how I can possibly start my day, let alone make it through and inspire my family to enjoy the day and make it the best they've had yet. In some ways, living for them keeps me going, but I'm worried that the drugs I take through flare-ups and every day/week are shortening my lifespan. I'm considering going wholisitic/alt method again and just treat the flares sthe same way until I strike some balance wholistically/ayervadically, whatever......I need a change...I need some hope...
