You guys I'm at my wits end. I feel like everything is on a downward spiral. I only had two orencia infusions before I got pulled off of it and methotrexate for being sick with two rounds of bronchitis. I'm supposed to have it again on the 5th. I am having ulnar nerve pain don't kno if it's from my elbows or neck. I woke up in the night with devastating pain in my toe that I had surgery on 9 weeks ago it was doing much better but now it has been unbearable went back to the foot dr. X-rays look ok but the dr thinks I'm having overlapping RA / surgical pain with possible strained tendon she gave a steroid shot but it's still horrendous pain after taking Demerol. And my hips are out again or STILL. I made a comment that I would prob get sick again before I get my next infusion my mom said I'm being negative but there I was sitting in a wheel chair having my mother push me around and my 16 year old daughter praying that her friends wouldn't see at the mall the other day ( she is great and is proud of me but I kno I would be praying that if I was her ) it's kinda hard not to be negative. I kno u guys understand but I don't know how much more I can take. Yet every time I day that I wind up taking more.
this infection crap is going to end, but i know it feels like you will never get back to meds. orencia leaves your body quick so you can get rid of the lung infection and it re-enters quickly. hang tough. i am sorry about all your other pain. orencia is pretty friendly for infections for me. maybe this will be the only infection blip you have this fall/winter/spring.
your daughter is not as cool inside as you think she wants to be :) just let the teenage angst stuff ride.

the tools exist to help you feel more comfortable. and remember, your doctor is paying his bills by being your doctor - you are the customer here! as far as negativity, watching stupid funny things makes me feel better. my current go-tos are american dad and bob's burgers (cartoons.. i love them). i used to watch monty python a lot when i was recovering from a car accident. south park is a fave of my hubby's when he's not feeling well. think of something funny THAT DOES NOT MAKE YOU THINK and watch it.
you might remind you daughter to be thankful that she gets to go to the mall....
i remember my 15 year old (who is in college now) NOT wanting to push my wheelchair during a combination RA pneumonia/flare. i get it. he's a great kid too.
you are an old timer compared to some of the youngsters on here and we are both blessed that we were not born into juvenile RA.
the infection will clear up. but you are going to have to get used to going off your biologic or infections if you are a lung infection person. you are going to have to ease up on yourself also. you need to be your own best advocate. look in the mirror and tell yourself that no one handles RA the way you do. (i'm such a hippy chick, sorry)

Until your drs and your body can get common ground-afraid you and your daughter is going to have to bear some embarrassment. Many people of all ages are in wheelchairs(in your case,hopefully not for long) but she should just be proud that you are alive and out of the house wanting to experience life!
