today is day nine on xeljanz. i haven't had any noticeable side effects. it hasn't touched my pain yet, but of course that's expected.
what has happened is i got sick. maybe i should have known better than to start taking it the weekend before thanksgiving. i've been wearing my mask when in close contact with people at work, but did not wear it on thanksgiving. i got to my aunt's house and there were children there - i did not know there were going to be kids there. no one out of the 34 attendees appeared sick, no one was coughing. then i stopped by my other aunt's house, where there were only 9 of us; one was coughing but he's always coughing - he has smokers cough, so i didn't worry too much about it. i also sat across the room from him.
friday i visited my best friend and her 2 week old baby, so of course now i'm hysterical over that. and yesterday we went to my family-in-law's second thanksgiving - no one was sick. not that it matters because i started feeling icky last night when we were leaving. a bit of post nasal drip feeling, and i woke up today with my head all stuffy and my ears clogged.
i guess i'm just venting. i'm in my last semester and have a literal ton of homework to get done between now and 12/21. i also have a lot of research to analyze and a 10 page paper to write. and holiday decorating and laundry to do and work. and i'm feeling really yucky and overwhelmed and like i just want to ignore all of it.

Hopefully the baby won't catch it.
Maybe there are a few things you can "ignore." Perhaps you don't have to do ALL your laundry - just the items you know you will need this week. Also, try not to look at all of the things you have to do in one huge mountain. Little hills are a lot more doable, if you pace yourself. We know you are probably "just venting," but it doesn't hurt to remind yourself of these things. Sending a big hug your way.
the pulmonologist I have states that with every new biologic i have started i get a respiratory infection, immediately. then as you look at the patterns thereafter, not as predictable. the only one constant was the starting a new bio. sometimes it would happen on the re-start also but now that I am on the ever gentle but becoming more and more useless, orencia, i have the best non infection stats ever.
