I have that a lot too. It happens to my arms, and hands. Sometimes, I'll have it happen to my feet. When it does, I'll trip over my own foot, because, I don't feel it. It's very disturbing. I have both the numbness, and the tingling. I hope this helps to know that you're not alone. God Bless.

Hey Kendra! I have had numbness and tingling in my hands, arms, & feet for several years...I have Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and the neurologist thinks I also have the equivalent in my feet.

It affects me so badly when I sleep, that I can no longer sleep on my side. I do wear wrist splints at night and that helps a little bit. There is also a Pillow Splint that encases the whole hand & wrist in a soft splint. This helps a little more, but mobility is rather limited (and I feel a little like the Tin Man in the Wizard of OZ - LOL)

I also can't drive more than about 5 minutes before my hands will get numb & painful.

My feet also get numb if I walk on a treadmill for more than 10 minutes.

I also use a cane, and the hand holding the can gets numb very quickly...

Oh...and prednisone does help me too!

Kendra - I have a nasty amount of neck pain that goes down my arm and into my hand as numbness and tingling. My rheumy thinks it is related to a problem in my neck, most likely bone spurs. Just had an MRI and I'll find out this week what's going on

I'm sorry that you are going through this - it's always something, isn't it?

I had that before I knew I had RA in my feet and legs it was really bad for awhile. I was on neurotin for a few months and that really helped me.

Hey NJCAT! I have the driving thing too. Thankfully it's mostly in my left foot/hand, so I haven't gone careening off the Texas roadways because I can't work the brake!
I'm pretty sure they'd give me a breathalizer here for that.
I've been considering going to a neurologist since these specialists (my rheumy) seem to have tunnel vision.

Hey Kendra! Yeah the driving thing is bad. I try to just drive with one hand and switch every 5 minutes. I also try driving with braces - the kind that stabilize the thumb & wrist - but I only put it on one hand because it doesn't give me a good grip. Yeah - its my left foot too! but both hands :(
The neurologist diagnosed it as Carpal Tunnel. I also went to a hand surgeon, but I am holding off on surgery. My mother has RA (and the CTS). She had the surgery and it didn't help a bit. My theory is that it isn't simple CTS - its the RA inflammation that is causing the CTS, so as long as you have RA, you will have inflammation.
But like I think I mentioned earlier, short doses of prednisone (Medrol Dose Pack) usually helps. But I have been on too much pred this past year, so I'm trying to stay off it for awhile!

It happens to me in my hands. RA and carpal tunnel syndrome tend to run together, so I've read, so if it starts in your hands that may have something to do with it.
