Since I have been diagnosed last summer I have taken etodolac and then switched a couple months ago to diclofenec. I can't tell either has done anything for my pain. I have also taken indomethacin for gout in the past before my ra diagnosis. Same result with all three nsaids. Might as well be taking nothing at all. What's funny is ibuprofen over the counter works better than anything I have tried in the nsaids dept. Keep in mind that i have taken the above nsaids for plenty of time for them to get into my system and begin to work. I see my rheumy on Thursday and plan to discuss this with him. Do any of you take ibuprofen with the usual dmards? Atleast when I take the ibuprofen I can feel it begin to work within 30 minutes and it seems to help the pain for several hours afterwards. Just curious if any of you have had any of the same effects. Thanks!

it's a matter of efficacy.
they don't work or they don't have staying power
my rheumatologist is willing to give most of them a try in rotation over the years.
the office does not dispense narcotics and neither does pain management.
800 mg motrin aint bad either crushed, I can't get those bullets down and I aint swallowing tons of little ones. so i take the bullet and crush it into something.

Received a letter today from my blood work done 4 weeks ago and stated that one of my liver tests was borderline high. It stated that my numbers were stable and satisfactory but they wanted to keep a close eye on it but to continue with my mtx at the same dosage. This has kinda freaked me out a little I'm just glad I'm going back this week and will have more blood work done.

restrict the nsaid chewing (I know I know)
lose weight if you think it would help
can the beers, wine or cocktails if you happen to love em
antibiotics affect my numbers don't know if you are on those also
it's a slow go down but if you body is used to methhotrexate then the numbers will eventually, probably, budge d o w n or maybe the rheumie will have to lower the mtx maybe if they will not budge
be patient
see a liver doctor if they go crashing up and you want more information

He said take Tylenol and I had to take Prilosec daily.
Well Advil is what works for me and Tylenol does not one bit...
When I need something, I take Mobic (meloxicam)...pretty good stuff!
we got my numbers down.
if you find it troublesome or persistent or want the view of a hepatologist or if you have other factors that could possibly contribute. if all else fails during diagnosis and treatment they will scan your liver and use those results to add to their action plan.
if they are further mystified and the numbers are climbing months to a year out they will do a liver biopsy.
my numbers are down. this took a wicked long time.
