Nausea from MTX?

Hi - I started taking MTX three weeks ago. I have taken three doses and my dose is 5 pills. Thus far I have not experienced any nausea that many people mention. Am I just lucky or is it too early for the MTX to have settled into my system? I'm just curious what others have experienced with MTX. I go back to the doctor in early December to assess how the MTX is working. I'm newly diagnosed and my doctor started me on MTX. Honestly, I think I will need to go to a higher dose because things are "better" but not where we want them. But I'll be patient. Thank you for your information.

When I was on MTX I seem to remember having nausea only when I was up around 6 pills & it was mild. I got used to it but once I got down to around 4 pills I didn't even need the folic acid to combat the nausea. So it's possible you're not as sensitive to it?

I'm @ 8 pills and do experience almost constant, but mild nausea. Really, it just makes me want to nosh to have something in my belly to settle it down.

I only got it after 10 years & was up to 6 pills. I stopped for a while, but had to start up again. I am just on 3 pills & Dr suggested that I take one during the day & then 2 in the evening. Knock on wood, I've been feeling OK again. So, could be you won't be nauseous or maybe not for some time.

I had very little nausea with methotrexate, up to a maximum dose of 8 tablets a day -- I took 4 in the morning and 4 in the evening when I got to that dose. When I was on lower doses, only once a day, I heeded advice I had read to take before bed. I very rarely drink alcohol so it has not been a big deal to completely abstain. I have heard it's best to wait until 2-3 days after you take it before drinking alcohol, so you are past the peak drug level.

I had no nausea with injection. Bypasses the digestive tract.

I started at 5 pills and was ok, but 2-3 years in with my dose at 7pills/week I would start feeling nauseous and had to change up how I take it. Now I do 3 pills in the morning and 4 pills at night the day that I need to take MTX. Taking 7 pillls all at once has a higher likelihood of causing nausea for me. You can ask for promethazine pills if they will give you a few, just in case.
