My SSI rant

I found out today I got denyed for SSI. Now i did get approved for SSDI but most of you know there is that whole 5 months waiting period so I need something now. But because my names are on my moms checking account incase anything happens to her and my name is on her safety deposit box they denied me. I even told them it wasn't my accounts my name is on there incase anything happens to her. But apparently they don't care. So now i am frustrated because I have no money. I am tired of waking up everyday in pain and taking three hours to get out of bed.. I want to be able to take a nice hot bath. I wished i was able to work. Anywho sorry I am done ranting at least I was able to type this up with no tears woohoo go me :D

I have been there and done that. I really feel for you. While I was waiting to the medical of SSDI to kick in, I had a really bad flare of the old RA. I had to go to my local free clinic and they really helped me a lot by giving me some meds for the RA. Patience was a virtue that I mastered during that time. Good luck to you and try to see if you can find a clinic in your area.

Oh I am so sorry you are going through this!!!! that is just terrible that they don't or should i say "WON'T" understand about your moms account etc etc. so I will just say it plain out............

it really erks me that thousands get help that don't need it and the people who REALLY need it get a bunch of crap!!!!!!!!!! It is just not right!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so sorry for your pain, it is just the disease from hell itself!!!!!!!!!! so I give you gentle hugs and encouragement

I am sorry. I have gotten flatly denied at every avenue. SUCKS!!! There is no reasoning to the way the system operates. Notice I didn't use the word works, because it doesn't work. lol

I wish I had some wisdom for you to deal with the interim... but sadly, I don't. Hang in there. Glad you got approved for the SSDI. If only the people that really need the help were the ones to receive the help. You might ask them if you change the "ownership" of your mom's account, if it would make a difference. I am not sure if SSI can be appealed. If you live with anyone that has an income, it is counted. Does not make sense.

yah the goverment want people to be totally destatute to help them you can be an active member of society. To get help it doesn't matter if you worked you BUTT off for years to get the things you have in life. THAT IS WHY YOU HAVE THEM!!!!! now you deserve to get it and they won't let you. ggggggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr............................... then they let a perfectly health person get help cause there to lazy to get up and work to get things............ OH NO I SHOULDN'T HAVE STARTED NOW I AM ON A ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it just kills me that people who really need help can't get it.

Hire an attorney..my dad had to do it when he went blind..they denied him..so he hired an attorny...he finally got it..and all the back pay.

Has anyone here applied for it recently? It's my next step. My doctor suggested it to me, I've had RA for 20 years and have some bad deformities and illnesses due to it. If you did apply, how long does it take to get a response? Just curious, thanks!

I am on SSDI but never was approved for SSI. In order to qualify for SSI you must have very limited resources finacially. Is the only reason you don't qualify because you are on your Mom's accounts? If so I suggest appealing the SSI decision. I think te amount of assests you can have has a limit of $3000. If you personally do not have that much then an appeal would be appropriate. With the appeal I would have affidavids signed and notarized stating that the accounts and assests in question are not yours to touch, and that your name is on these accounts purely to help your Mom if she herself cannot get to them.
