In Jan. My Rummy told me that she wanted to take me off Orencia because I was gaining to much weight. I have diabetes too. She wanted to start me on Simponi. I agreed . I heard nothing until March when She informed me that United health care said no. She then appealed . They delayed for another month until she moved her practice out of my area and broke off ties with our hospital. So she had to reinstate herself with the state and everyone's insurance. I still will go to her practice because she is really nice and the nearest to my town. Fast forward to now. United Healthcare is still denying me Simponi, despite the medical reasons . They said it cost too much...... Give me a break I was going to be on the assistance Now I have to get approved to go back on Orencia. What a mess. This is so sad because she gave me a sample of the Simponi and I loved it. I had my energy back and my pain really decreased. It really is sick how the insurance companies treat us. For years we paid those high premiums but now that we need them they turn their backs on us. By the way I did jump through their hoops. I'm allergic to MTX. and Arriva messed up my liver. Humira didn't work either.

I was reading that Tricare (military medical) takes a year to answer an appeal, so that might not be a short term answer.
I just get so sick of the insurance companies dictating medical care without a medical degree that I like to do little things to give back some of the frustrations they give me.
(you know, it like when you take the junk mail from one company and put it in the pre-paid envelope of another junk mail company - and vice versa - and mail them each other's stuff.)

I know. I went through this saga where it was drawn out until on the appeal I received an OK on the day...my insurance was terminated. i even had a "case manager" for that fun. then I had to re-start all over with the new insurance. So, I am thinking of you.

Went through the same thing.
Started Orencia & insurance said nope. We want you to try Cimzia.
Makes me spitting fire mad that they can dictate our health care when they have never even sat down to do a darn examination.
It's a shame insurance can deny the help we need & yet charge us prices that are through the roof.
I have one word for insurance. IDIOTS!
Actually I can think of a lot more but I try to remain a lady first & for most.
